Internet Phone Book

The Internet Phone Book features a directory of more than 700 submitted websites in categories such as Publishing, Ecology, and Atmosphere. Each website includes a personal message and a dial-up code that can be used at https://internetphonebook.net/dial.

To situate the directory in contemporary conversations—and to add some weight to the spine—the book also features ten essays by leading web artists, researchers, and designers. Read, for example, Chia Amisola’s stunning reflection on Domain Naming, Benjamin Earl’s defining essay on Coding in situ, and Garry Ing’s dedication to the practice of View Source.

The Internet Book is a step back to the 90s, before the invention of search engines and social media feeds.
